The Sybase Match Play Championship will once again play host to the top female golfers in the world as the event returns to Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, NJ next week, May 19 – 22, 2011. The final field features nine of the top-10 players in the Rolex World Golf Rankings including No. 1 Yani Tseng, Jiyai Shin (2), and Suzann Pettersen (3). In addition, nine of the top-10 players from the 2011 Official Money List and six of the top-10 players from the all-time Career Money List will play. LPGA Tour professionals had until Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to register to participate in the event.
“We are very excited to continue to play host to the world’s best female golfers in a unique and exciting match play format seen nowhere else on tour,” said Tournament Executive Director Andy Bush. “The quality of our field promises to deliver plenty of exciting competition while proceeds from the event benefit the local community.”
The field is also comprised of the top-48 players on the LPGA Tour’s Official Money List with Karrie Webb and Stacy Lewis close behind Tseng at second and third, respectively. Webb has captured two victories in six Tour stops, while Lewis notched her first major victory earlier this season at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Other tournament hopefuls include Maria Hjorth, who returns to Hamilton Farm Golf Club after collecting her fifth-career victory at the Avnet LPGA Classic during the Tour’s last stop.
